I knew I wanted to work in the medical field from an early age. After graduating from high school, I went to college where I completed the registered nursing prerequisites. At the time, I was also working as a medical interpreter and got exposed to various fields of medicine and this is how I came to know about midwifery. After learning about midwifery and the various types of midwifery careers, I automatically knew I wanted to pursue a career in the licensed midwife route. Through my interpreting and doula work, I have seen some very traumatizing births among low-income and minority women and that’s when I decided that I needed to be the catalyst to bring about change!
I started my midwifery journey at Seattle Midwifery School( now Bastyr Midwifery School), later, I attended the Utah College of Midwives and graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor's degree in midwifery. I am a Certified Professional Midwife(CPM) and Licensed in the State of Washington. I got my Masters in Maternal Child Health Systems in 2022 at Bastyr University.
Birth is a natural process and I want women to know that they should be in charge of their own bodies and be empowered by this experience. They shouldn’t feel threatened and bullied into making decisions that they don’t want to make.
I am a mother of two boys and a wife to a very humble and patient man.
